英語俚語小知識

      英國也有當地俚語存在，即使通過了雅思考試，初次聽到俚語也會腦袋蒙圈，猜不出說的是什么意思，但如果不及時回應又會讓人覺得沒禮貌很冷淡，為大家總結了留學生必須要學會的英語俚語。學習一下，以備不時只需。

       1.Ta [tɑ:]

　　在英國，Ta相當于“Thank you”的簡化形式，比表示感謝的口語--“Cheers”更簡短。。。

　　eg：你為后面過來的人撐了一下門

　　那人會對你說：Oh，Ta.

　　2. Cheap As Chips

　　這句話真的很容易就猜出來是什么意思，就是某件東西很便宜，或者你買到什么便宜貨，經常會用到這個俚語。

　　3. Right up my Street

　　當你很喜歡一樣東西的時候，這句話就可以準確表達你的內心。

　　eg：“This song is right up my street!”

　　4. Out of the Blue

　　表示某件事發生地很出其不意，完全讓人緩不過來神兒。

　　eg：What just happened? That test came out of the blue. I couldn’t study for it!”

　　5.Knackered

　　當你的日子過得很累，很疲憊的時候，就會可以說being knackered

　　eg：“I’ve been so busy all day. Gosh, I’m knackered!”

　　6. Beat Around the Bush

　　表示顧左右而言他。要知道，有些人說的話并不代表他們內心真正的想法。

　　eg：“Stop beating around the bush and tell me what actually happened.”

　　7. Quid

　　最常見的俚語，表示“英鎊“

　　eg：“It looked so nice, so I bought it. It was just a quid anyway.”

　　8. Money to Burn

　　嗯，就是燒錢，只有那些壕們才會有的權利。

　　eg：“That Cunningham family really has money to burn. They bought their third Porsche this week!”

　　9.Cheesy

　　這跟奶酪沒有關系，是表示“沒用的”、“俗氣的”、“膚淺的“，經常用來形容一些言過其實的東西，比如說肥皂劇、電影或者老照片什么的。

　　eg：“That film wasso cheesy, but I still had to cry…”

　　10.Flying Colours

　　這個短語主要用于某人通過努力完成什么事兒或取得什么成就。多數用來表示通過考試。

　　eg：“She passed herUni exams with flying colours.”

　　11. Havea Bone to Pick With Someone

　　通常用于當你聽到別人在背后八卦你，或者那個人做了什么你灰常不贊同的事兒，你就可以這么說他。

　　eg：“Oh, him? Istill have a bone to pick with that guy! He called me stupid for no reason atall!”

　　12. Can’t Cut the Mustard

　　即使你使勁兒掙扎，也不能解決問題的時候，就會聽到別人會對你說這句俚語。

　　eg：“If you can’t cut the mustard, just give up and ask someone to help you.”

　　或許你會碰見來自其他國家的小伙伴，也許他們也喜歡說俚語。。

　　13. Cat’s Pajamas(American)

　　表示某件事兒/東西超級棒。

　　eg：“I love thiscandy. That’s the cat’spajamas, that is.”

　　14.Hydro (Canadian)

　　在加拿大就是表示“electricity”

　　eg：“I still need to pay my hydro bill.”

　　15. YourBlood is Worth Bottling (Australia)

　　這句俚語本意是稱贊一個人，表示對方很感謝你為他們做的事兒，或者真心喜歡你這個人。

　　eg:“I admire you forhelping our local charity so much. Your blood is worth bottling.”
